Guadalmina may not be so well known to people who first start looking for a property in and around Marbella but it is a well-established and very popular area with lots of great quality properties. Much of the area is actually part of the San Pedro de Alcanatara postal district but Guadalmina is a residential district of its own made up of a number of different urbanisations and developments.
There are two main sections of Guadalmina, the upper part known as Guadalmina Alta and the lower part known as Guadalmina Baja, split up by the Guadalmina commercial centre where you will find shops, banks, bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
This section is where you will find the clubhouse for Guadalmina Golf made up of two 18-hole courses (the north and south courses), as well as a 9-hole par 3 course. Many of the properties in Guadalmina Alta flank the golf courses with many apartments and penthouses, townhouses and villas overlooking the lush green fairways.
There is also a Barcelo hotel in Guadalmina Alta which has become a very popular place for people to stay who want to be close to places like Marbella and Puerto Banus, without being right in the middle of them. Just across the road from here is the Marbella Cable Ski where you can wakeboard, kneeboard or water-ski on the lake.
Property in Guadalmina Alta
There is a real mixture of property types here. The majority of the apartments overlook the golf courses although there are a few that have views across the riverbed and valley towards Benahavis and Estepona.
There are also a number of small complexes with townhouses like the popular Eagles de Guadalmina and Villas de Guadalmina as well as some streets where you can find both semi-detached and detached villas.
The lower part of Guadalmina also has part of the golf course although there are many parts that do not overlook the course. As you head down to the beach there are a number of different streets where you will see everything from golf properties through to luxury mansions.
There is a hotel in this section too called the Guadalmina Hotel which is a popular venue for weddings and celebrations. It is fair to say that overall Guadalmina Baja is much quieter than the upper section, mainly because there are more substantial properties here and therefore fewer residents.
Property in Guadalmina Baja
Although there are apartments and penthouses overlooking the golf course and some developments overlooking the beach, many of the properties in this section comprise of townhouses and villas.
Some of the streets have a combination of property types whereas others are just made up of detached villas.
